Industrial Visit to GMS Composite Knitting Industry Ltd. Organised by the Department of Textile Engineering
The Department of Textile Engineering is pleased to announce the successful completion of an industrial visit to GMS Composite Knitting Industry Ltd., Kashimpur, Gazipur, Dhaka, held on 20th February 2025 (Thursday).
A group of 28 students, accompanied by two faculty members, Ms. Suraiya Ireen and Mr. Md. Omar Faruque, embarked on this enriching experience. The journey began at 8:15 am from the GUB permanent campus, and upon arrival, the General Manager – HR of GMS, Mr. Mowazzem Hossain, gave a warm welcome to the group and shared an insightful introductory speech about the company. Following this, the students were divided into two groups, each assigned an industry supervisor.
Founded in 1999, GMS Composite Knitting Limited is a fully integrated and independent company that offers state-of-the-art services in composite knitting, dyeing, finishing, and stitching. With modern facilities and skilled workers, GMS has established itself as a reliable exporter of high-quality knitted fabrics worldwide. The company holds an ISO 9001:2008 certification.
During the visit, students explored three key sections of the industry: Knitting, Dyeing, and Finishing. The workflow and machine operations in each section were thoroughly explained by the assigned industry supervisors. The students gained hands-on knowledge of the production processes, which deepened their understanding of the textile industry.
The visit concluded around 1:30 pm, followed by a concluding speech from Mr. Kazi Md. Nazim Uddin, Deputy Manager at GMS Composite Knitting Industry Ltd. The day ended with a group photo to commemorate the event.
The group departed from the facility at 2:00 pm. This industrial visit provided valuable practical insights, and the students were thrilled with the opportunity to enhance their knowledge and sharpen their skills. It was truly a great learning experience for all participants.
