Departmental promotional activities – Department of Textile Engineering

Co-Curricular Activities

The main objective of the promotional activities is to promote the Green University of Bangladesh and the Department of Textile Engineering by familiarizing prospective admission seeker with different facilities of the University and the Department, prospect of Textile Engineering for career building. The following activities were undertaken:

Quiz Competition:

Textile Engineering Department successfully arranged “Quiz Competition, Spring 2019” in 14th February and prizes are given to the winners on 18th April 2019. The purpose of the quiz competition was to enhance the knowledge of students & prepare them for different competitive exams.

Honorable Pro Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Md. Fayyaz Khan was the chief guest of prize giving ceremony. The program was presided by our Honorable Chairperson of TE, Prof. Dr. Nitai Chandra Sutradhar.

Inter College Quiz Competition:

Green University Textile Club (GUTC) has organized Inter College Quiz Competition – 2017 on 20^th October, 2017. A total number of participants were 90 from 6 different colleges (North Western College – Mirpur, SOS Herman Gmeiner College – Mirpur, Bangladesh Navy College – Dhaka Cantonment, Banoful Adibashi College – Mirpur, and Dhaka Science College – Farmgate). After the Quiz competition, there was also a presentation titled “The present market situation and the prospect of Textile Engineering in Bangladesh”. The winners of the inter-college quiz competition were given prizes in Text-Fest conference on 1^st December, 2017

Sponsoring Orientation program of Institute of Science, Trade & Technology (IIST):

Fresher reception and Farewell program of IIST, a reputed Polytechnic Institute offering diploma in Textile was held on 31^st November, 2017 in the permanent campus of IIST at Mirpur-14, Dhaka. This program was sponsored by Green University of Bangladesh to familiarize the students of IIST with GUB. Prof. Dr. Ismail Chowdhury, Chairperson of Textile Engineering Department was present in this program and gave a valuable speech to the students explaining the facilities of Textile Department of GUB.

Formation of Departmental Alumni Association:

On the occasion of Tex-Fest and Graduate get together on 1^st December, 2017 a meeting of the ex-students of the Textile Engineering Department has been arranged. During this discussion, everybody has given the emphasis on forming a Departmental Alumni Association for the well-being of the present and ex-students of the Department. An ad hoc committee of Alumni Association of the Department has been formed to accelerate the activities and a draft constitution of the Alumni Association has been distributed among the ex-students which will be finalized in the next general meeting.
